Singapore Japan Philharmonic Orchestra(SJPO) presents a concert on Sunday, August 12, 14:00pm at Suginami Koukaidou Concert Hall.


SJPO has been established by Japanese amateur musicians who used to live in Singapore(since 1990s) and enjoying western classical music through joining the Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra(BHSO).

There will be some Singaporean musicians performing in this concert, do come and support!

Ahhh, the cherry blossoms are blooming and its that beautiful time of the year again!
And, spring is never complete without good company under the pinkish glow of the cherry blossoms,right?

Yes you have guessed it, SSAJ, will be organizing Hanami 2013, a FUN flower viewing event with Singaporeans and friends alike to welcome the new semester for students in Japan, as well as welcoming the season in general for all of us Singaporeans in Tokyo.

Some of you might be wondering: isnt this too EARLY for hanami?

Well, the cherry blossom season is actually already underway in Tokyo!
This year, due to exceptionally high temperatures over the past few weeks, the cherry blossoms have already began blooming, as many of you would have already realised by seeing all the pink trees around.

An exhibit of 21 mosaic works of 21 APEC members’ well-known scenic sites,
and display of photographs of smiling faces of the citizens. Exhibition of
panels, video presentation, workshops, hands-on exhibit introducing various
cultures, history, international approaches and other issues related to
APEC member economies.
Exhibition by Singapore Peranakan Association in Japan at Singapore Booth
The Singapore booth will introduce the unique and attractive world of
Peranakan such as elegant craftworks, embroidered kebayas, beaded sandals,
colorful ceramics and pottery wares, etc.

The Exhibit will cover the following:
(a) Sale of Singapore Sweets
(b) Demonstration and Sale of Kebaya Embroidery
(c) Demonstration of Bead Embroidery
(d) Sale of Books on Peranakan

The Singapore Booth is supported by the Singapore Embassy and Singapore

National Day Reception
Dear Singaporeans / Singapore PRs,
The Singapore Embassy in Tokyo is pleased to invite you and your spouse to
a dinner reception to celebrate Singapore’s 45th National Day which falls
on 9 August 2010.
As August coincides with the Obon festival in Japan, our National Day
Reception for Singaporeans in Tokyo has traditionally been held in
September. In this regard, the details for this year’s reception are
appended below:
Date: Thursday, 9 September 2010
Time: 1830 to 2030 hrs
Venue: Hikari Room (2nd floor, Tower), Imperial Hotel
Attire: Lounge Suit
To allow for better interaction and networking, please note that the
National Day Reception is for adults only. Singaporeans/PRs are welcomed to
bring their children for the year-end lunch reception which would be held
in December (details will be announced in November).

Kindly send in the attached Reply Slip by 31 August 2010 to confirm your
attendance. For security reasons, Singaporeans who did not RSVP may be
refused entry. We seek your understanding and cooperation and look forward
to welcoming you at the reception.

Asia Junior Sports Exchange Games 2010
The Asia Junior Sports Exchange Games 2010 will be held from 27-29 Aug 10 (details at Annex).
Teams from Singapore will be participating in both the Badminton and Judo events.
